ErhuGuanyin is a Windows application for tuning erhu with the microphone and the speakers. Please run the application on WindowsXP or later.
1. Get ErhuGuanyin. You can download the guanyin.rar file from the website http://www.softist.com/software/guanyin/guanyin.htm , and decompress it to get the application file guanyin.exe and the help file.
2. Run ErhuGuanyin. After Ensuring the microphone and the speakers are connected to your computer and they work well, you can run guanyin.exe by double-click. ErhuGuanyin is shown on the screen as following.
3. Exit ErhuGuanyin. Click 
button
to exit the applicaiton.
4. Tuning by ears. By clicking 
button, you can play or stop playing
the standard tone of D4 of inside string or A4 of outside string. If you have
perfect ears, you can tune your erhu just with this method.
5. Tuning by microphone. Please turn the microphone to your erhu and bow on the open strings while watching the screen. You can check pitch with the graph located in the center area of the window for a wide range. Fasten or loosen each string by turning the pegs to make the peak of the graph of inside string overlap the D4/D５ vertical line, and make the peak of the graph of outside string overlap the A4/A５ vertical line.
6. Tuning with precision. You can use the meters located in the upper area of the window to check the pitches of the open strings with precision. Please turn the pegs or turn the adjusters slightly, to make the pointer point to the center vertical lines as possible as you can. The meter on the left side is for the inside string, while the meter on the right side is for the outside string. The frequency is also displayed as a reference.
7. Metronome function. Clicking 
button, the rhythm can be played. The tempo and the rhythm
type can be set on the dialog "Set Parameter". The dialog of "Set
Parameter" cab be shown by clicking 
button.
8. Set the standard tone. By default, the frequency of the
tone A4( "la") is set as 440Hz at
first time, but you can change it from 435Hz to 445Hz if you need to do so. By
clicking
,
the following dialog will be shown, and you can change the frequency of A4( "la")
on the dialog. Besides D4/A4 tuning, the open strings can be set to other pitches, so you can tune
zhonghu, erquanhu and so
on by this application.
9．Update the application. Access http://www.softist.com/software/guanyin/guanyin.htm to check if you can get the newest version.
